The Don Bosco School of Nursing had its humble origin in 2000 January 31st It was founded with an objective of training young girls with highly professional standard equipping them with excellence .Knowledge and skills and inculcating in them an attitude of kindness compassion and tender love in caring for the sick .
The school was recognized by the state nursing council, Government of Kerala in 1999 in the month of November and The Indian Nursing Council in 2003 . The school of nursing was officially inaugurated by Sr. K. Karunakaran ,the Chief Minster of Kerala on 31st January with the strength of 20 students and now the annual intake has been increased to 30,making the total of hundred and twenty students with four batches .So far 13 batches of students have completed their training and it produced 360 full pledged committed nurses who now offer their expert service in all parts of the world ,assuming various leadership roles as Clinical Nurse , Nurse Educators and Nursing Administers .We take pride in the marvelous growth of the institution during these 15 years .
The birth of Don Bosco Nursing School was a long cherished dream of our beloved Bishop Francis Kallarakkal .Don Bosco School of Nursing , a unit of Don Bosco Charitable Trust is managed by the effective leadership .Rt. Rev. Dr. Joseph Karikkassery as a Chairman , Rev.Fr. Saju Kanichukunnath as the Director, Rev.Fr. Shabu Kunnathoor as the Associate Director , Sr. Priya John as the Principal and Sr. Lenita Joseph as a warden .We place on record the effort and initiative taken by different directors and the first Principal Ms. Innocentia from the beginning till now .
We have an excellent team of nursing educators .They aim at giving the students of this institution, professional excellence combined with moral spiritual and ethical standard providing them with ample opportunities for their total developments of their training will become able leaders, educators of their personality .the students who complete their training will become able leaders , educators and care providers in the field of nursing .
The school has acquired a great name both inside and outside the state as a result of intelligent planning, dedicated team work and the whole hearted co-operation of the students.
GNM or General Nursing and Midwifery is 3 year course followed by 6 months of mandatory internship dealing with the nursing practice of a niche segment like maternity care, post-trauma, rehabilitation, mental care, data collection etc.
Minimum Age For Admission Will Be 17 Years 10+2
With English And Must Have Obtained A Minimum Of 40% At The Qualifying Examination And English Individually From Any Recognized Board. Science Group With Physics, Chemistry, Biology Is Preferable. In The Absence Of Candidates With Science Group, Candidates With Other Groups Also Will Be Considered.
